24 - Louise Fletcher Art

“I follow the creative nudges even when they don't make sense, because I know it all comes together in the end. For example, I had an idea to make work in response to the poetry of Ted Hughes, who was born in my part of the world. It began as just a fledgling idea and I had no idea what would happen with it, or whether anyone would know who he was or care. But I started working and then a series of chance events led to the idea for a book and I found a publisher, and then got permission to use the poems in my book, and then all of a sudden I was writing a book about my love of this poetry and my art practice.” - Louise Fletcher

23 - Edvin Tedebring

The beauty of abstract art is it’s ability to convey deep emotions. Mixing abstract with the permanence of tattoos, Edvin’s work really caught my eye. I have always wanted to get a tattoo that is purely abstract. To see how it flows around the contours of the unique canvas that is the human body. Edvin pushes himself to do just that - to work with the body when thinking about the placement of the tattoo. Not only do I love his abstract work but his portraits are so stunning - really using the negative space of the skin to create moving pieces.

10- Coates Illustration

Brandon Coates creates beautiful illustrations and concept art of environments and characters. His use of color and light are well-executed, and his digital work has a wonderful texture that guides your eyes across the image. Brandon shares his journey toward finding his way in the art world, from art school to Pixar, from Facebook to freelance and beyond. I think it is important to learn from those who may be at different stages than us in their artistic journey, and I hope you find inspiration and knowledge from his story to use in your everyday practice.
